Today's early value bet
No. 4
Restorer
7.55 Kempton
1pt win at 6-1
When a horse is 6-4 favourite but hasn't won for ten starts, has never won over the trip and is tried in a first-time visor by a trainer with a terrible record when reaching for the headgear you know you've got to take it on.
Western Hymn is the class act in this Listed contest, but his profile demands he is opposed. John Gosden is not one who readily reaches for headgear and he is just 1-23 with horses in a first-time visor in the last ten years and just 2-25 in the last two seasons (two short-priced winners) with horses in first-time blinkers. This looks like an act of desperation.
