Thyme Hill looks a solid buy in match against great stayer Paisley Park

Paisley Park has been a great stayer over the last few years but he looks ideally suited by a stiff test of stamina and I’m not convinced he will find Aintree’s sharp track optimal.

Furthermore, the nine-year-old has looked at his best with some cut in the ground recently and the drying conditions might just turn the tables in favour of the speedier Thyme Hill.

There isn’t much between the two on form. Thyme Hill beat Paisley Park by a neck when getting 3lb at Newbury on his reappearance in November and looked unlucky not to confirm the form on level weights in the Long Walk at Ascot, when he was caught on the line.

Thyme Hill is the younger, more progressive of the two and Paisley Park is probably going the other way. It’s worth taking Thyme Hill to beat him by more than the two lengths needed.
