Fairymount Boy can complete a hat-trick for trainer Michael Hourigan junior in the Leugh Handicap Hurdle. The combined effects of an operation to counter the effects of "kissing spines" and a change of tactics have brought about a transformation in the eight-year-old.

He had managed only one placing from 20 attempts before winning at Gowran Park last month and has since followed up over course and trip. On both occasions he was delivered late by Barry John Foley, picking up an additional 7lb each time. Although he started off from a low base he is perhaps a little fortunate to remain eligible for this contest in the 80-95 ratings bracket.
