Things have not quite worked out as planned for Grandeur D'Ame but a switch to handicaps could well bring out further improvement from this former smart bumper performer. He was second to Good Risk At All at Listed level at Cheltenham last November and was ambitiously then tested at Grade 1 level. Since joining Alan King at the start of this season he has been running fine in weaker races, scoring at odds-on at Fakenham before placing behind decent types at Plumpton and Sandown. Although he was nowhere near Shallwehaveonemore the last day, he finished his race quite nicely to stay on past the third and it could just be that a step up in trip with a similarly stiff finish is what he requires. A mark of 117 looks workable for this lightly raced type, soft ground looks fine and the hood is added too, which could benefit his chances.
