The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with two to follow on Friday

EYECATCHER

Englishman(7.05 Goodwood)

The ground should ride on the soft side at Goodwood and that can play into the hands of Englishman, a three-time soft ground winner who can go well at a double-figure price. Milton Bradley's nine-year-old certainly isn't the force of old but he was still competitive off marks around 80 throughout the whole of last season on unfavoured quick ground, including winning twice (both in May, including once over course and distance). Following a couple of below-par efforts to start this year, you can forget about his effort here last time when the runners were called back after a false start despite having basically run flat out for three furlongs, and providing he has recovered from that, he should go well now dropped to a mark of 68.

DARK HORSE

Motahassen (5.50 Haydock)

It was almost monsoon-like conditions at Haydock yesterday through the opening part of the card and the ground would have been torn up at the Merseyside track as well, so soft ground specialist should earn a second look. Motahassen certainly likes plenty of give underfoot (three best RPRs came on soft ground) and he may be underestimated in the market because of his poor win record (1-15). It doesn't look the hottest handicap, though, and Declan Carroll's charge should go close if being able to dictate early.
