The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow on Wednesday
GOOD THING
Nawassi(3.35 Newmarket)
Didn't perform on her debut when well found in the market but showed up much better after a break when winning a course-and-distance novice event under Jim Crowley, who is back aboard today. She broke smartly, kicked on over two furlongs out and stayed on powerfully to the line to beat a previous winner by just under three lengths. Crowley said she loved the ground that day, which is obviously a plus given the conditions will be similar here, and hopefully she'll be ready to roll first time up this year.
EYECATCHER
Ekhtiyaar(1.50 Newmarket)
I'm almost certain Ekhtiyaar will prove by far the best of this field and hopefully trainer Roger Varian has him ready to go. The four-year-old, who runs off topweight, has won both his starts at Newmarket including a big-field handicap off 6lb lower in July. He couldn't quite replicate that form on his last start in 2017 when fifth at Ascot, but it didn't look like that track suited him. He's likely to be better on quicker ground but he has form with give and should prove too classy for his rivals.
DARK HORSE
Coup De Pinceau (4.25 Cheltenham)
Paul Nicholls and Sam Twiston-Davies have been in good form over the last two weeks and they team up once more with Coup De Pinceau in this ultra competitive handicap hurdle. Nicholls, who has won this race three times in the last eight years, relies solely on this six-year-old to enhance his record and the last-time-out winner looks sure to show up prominently now upped to 3m. He's still unexposed with just seven starts to his name and seemed to relish this trip on his penultimate outing. He hacked up when last seen and goes well after a break.
