The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow on Sunday
GOOD THING
The Pentagon(3.40 Leopardstown)
Aidan O'Brien is highly likely to take this prize and hopefully it'll be with The Pentagon. All three of his runners faced off against each other in the Ballysax last month and Nelson, who was given an attacking ride, came out on top. The drift in the market before the off told the tale for The Pentagon, who was never in contention under Ryan Moore and came home nine lengths behind. However, he'll come on a lot for that run and proved he was a top-class colt last year. I expect a huge performance.
EYECATCHER
Leoncavallo (4.10 Ludlow)
This six-year-old gelding used to be top class and beat the likes of Sceau Royal in his first season over hurdles in 2015 when with John Ferguson. Ran the same rival close when he made his first start for Ben Pauling in October 2016 before his form tailed off somewhat on ground softer than he prefers. Has only had one run since April 2017 when down the field on soft ground at Bangor in November but now finds himself in the care of Richard Newland, who has done so well with new recruits in the past. Has dropped down to a mark of 133, gets blinkers for the first time and the ground has come right for him. It's his time to strike.
DARK HORSE
Hey Gaman (2.35 Longchamp)
James Tate's three-year-old proved he was battle-hardened in his juvenile campaign last year when notching three wins and a couple of places from seven starts, including in Listed company, and made a good return to action when third in the Greenham. The winner, James Garfield, ran respectably in the Qipco 2,000 Guineas when last seen and it's interesting that Tate has chosen the French version as the target for his speedy colt. James Doyle retains the ride and, although others are more unexposed, Hey Gaman will be there with a fighting chance come the final furlong.
