BANKER

Casima(8.15 Kempton)

Archie Watson's three-year-old filly steps up in class to contest this Class 5 handicap but has performed well for the trainer in two starts this season and looks likely to follow up her recent Wolverhampton success. She was giving away plenty of weight to a subsequent winner when finishing third at Chelmsford on her reappearance and, despite drifting badly on track when last seen, she quickened away well to beat an above average field for the grade. Up just 4lb for that win, she now tackles a longer trip that should suit.

EYECATCHER

Bouvreuil (4.05 Aintree)

This Paul Nicholls-trained seven-year-old has age on his side – unlike most of his rivals – and looked primed to run a huge race at Cheltenham when well-supported before being brought down at the second fence in the Grand Annual. He's racing off the same mark of 142 here, which leaves him well handicapped, and has form over these fences when tenth in this race last year behind the reopposing Ultragold. He's 3lb lower in the ratings this time around and he's almost certainly improved since then. JP McManus looks to have a strong hand and Bouvreuil looks his best chance.

DARK HORSE

Landin (1.45 Aintree)

Nicky Henderson has done well in Friday's opening Grade 3 handicap hurdle over the last few years and consequently Lough Derg Spirit has to be feared, but Seamus Mullins' Landin sneaks in at the bottom of the weights and looks good value at around 16-1. With just 10st 3lb on his back after Daniel Sansom's 5lb allowance, the five-year-old comes here on the back of victories at Sandown and Lingfield and has Grade 1 form on his CV from last year. He impressed when scoring at the Surrey venue last time out, beating Cheltenham festival runner-up Remilluc by a comfortable four lengths and his trainer often does well with runners at this track.
