The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with one to follow on Tuesday
EYECATCHER
First Breath(7.15 Newcastle)
Winless in nine starts and boasting a rating of just 44, First Breath clearly isn't the stable star at Ben Haslam's yard but he should up to winning a race like this and he is likely to be overpriced in the market. He has proven competitive in handicap company off lowly marks since entering the sphere in the summer and seemed to put in his best effort when fitted with a first-time visor two starts ago. That also coincided with a drastic drop back to the minimum trip and it's notable that he again reverts to sprinting distances here after a disappointing run over 7f last time out. He ran well on his last outing at this course in November and Haslam has his horses firing on all cylinders at the moment (6-11, 55 per cent strike-rate in the last fortnight).
