The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with four to follow on Saturday
BANKER
Summer Sands(3.15 Beverley)
The Cool Silk Partnership often target a couple of their smart juveniles at this race and I wouldn't be surprised if this has been the plan all along for Summer Sands, who must have a huge chance if building on his debut third at York. Backed beforehand into 11-2, Summer Sands showed signs of inexperience throughout the opening couple of furlongs and found himself with a mountain to overcome, but he stayed on takingly to get into the frame and the form of the race looks pretty strong. The winner, Bomb Proof, is going for the Norfolk, while the second and fifth have both won on their subsequent outings. He needs to improve to feature but he wouldn't be entered in this unless connections thought he was up to the task.
EYECATCHER
Aces (3.55 Newmarket)
Newmarket doesn't look to have had anywhere near as much rain as some places in Britain, but showers on Friday and throughout Saturday morning should ease the ground enough to see Aces land the competitive 6f handicap. Ian Williams's seven-year-old can find them going a bit fast over this trip in quick conditions but the rain should blunt the ground enough for him to feature off a workable mark of 94, 1lb lower than when winning here last year. Ryan Moore gets back aboard for the first time since that success and a tongue-tie and cheekpieces have been fitted.
DARK HORSE
Venturous (4.15 Chelmsford)
An ex-Godolphin inmate who struggled in his first two seasons for David Barron, Venturous suddenly burst into life this year, recording form figures of 211, and looked a well-handicapped gelding when last successful at Redcar. Held up over the five-furlong trip and short of room on a couple of occasions, Venturous was produced with a perfectly-timed run by Robbie Downey and beat an unexposed rival cosily at the line. He's up 6lb for that effort but his RPR of 91 on that occasion and some backform suggests he's well up to recording a hat-trick if able to get in from a wide draw.
AMERICAN ANGLE
There's a cracking card at Belmont Park and with a lack of value in the feature Belmont Mile, it looks worth sticking to the undercard, where Disco Partner stands out in the Grade 1 Jaipur Invitational Stakes. Winner of the last two runnings of this race, Disco Partner has undergone roughly the same preparation as a year ago and should be able to seriously trouble likely odds-on favourite World Of Trouble. There is no better rider in America than Irad Ortiz and the race could be set up for a closer.
