Hasn't won in seven starts since but looks primed to put in his best effort this year on his third run back from a break and is back to a workable mark of 59. Has a nice inside draw and didn't run badly behind a well-handicapped and in-form rival over this course and distance last time.

DARK HORSE

Niven is sure to take a few bets off topweight and he is probably the most likely winner, but it could be worth taking a chance on King Golan at a bit of a price. Kenny Johnson's runner has caught the eye over 2m5½f and 3m on his last two outings, tanking at certain points in the race before eventually fading out of contention. He takes a big drop in trip today, which could prove the catalyst to a better effort, while he is now back to a mark 5lb below when he last won. Sean Quinlan replacing Alison Clarke is worth noting.
