The Punt Daily: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips on Thursday afternoon
BANKER
First Winter (5.00 Yarmouth)
Despite the fact that just six runners go to post for this 1m3½f novice event, there are some regally-bred runners in the line-up, none more so than the Charlie Appleby-trained First Winter. A son of Dubawi out of a Sadler's Wells mare, First Winter made a good impression when second on debut at Lingfield in December to the highly talented Kipps, who has since gone close off a mark of 83. The duo pulled five lengths clear of the rest of the field and natural improvement makes this Godolphin-owned runner hard to beat.
EACH-WAY PLAY
Hayadh (3.50 Beverley)
Rebecca Bastiman's seven-year-old hasn't crossed the line in front since May last year but has now fallen to 4lb below that winning mark and should be suited by the 1m½f trip. He is best caught fresh (form figures of 1113 after a break of 61 days or more) and has drawn well in stall four. Rowan Scott's 3lb claim will help his chance and he should go close at a double-figure price.
