EYECATCHER

(1.55 Lingfield)

Saeed bin Suroor is striking at 30 per cent (7-23) in the last fortnight and it's worth taking note of his sole runner at Lingfield, Major Partnership, who returns from a 54-day break. The son of Iffraaj, who has won four of ten starts, remains unexposed and will have come on a bundle for his first run of the season in Britain when 12th of 14 at Ascot last month. He didn't run badly on that occasion by any means, but probably needed it after 161 days off the track and is more suited by an all-weather surface. He is better than a mark of 100 based on last year's showing and I expect him to be near full fitness as he leads up to potentially going to Dubai for the winter.

GOOD THING

(12.50 Lingfield)

Keith Dalgleish's three-year-old was a massive eyecatcher when he was last seen on the track, finishing third behind Purdey's Gift at Wolverhampton on his all-weather debut. Despite pulling hard early on, Iron Mike surged to the lead around the home bend, putting the early pacemaker and favourite Mojave away in a few strides, but paid for his early exertions when caught in the final 50 yards. He drops two furlongs in trip today, which is a huge plus on that showing, and looks sure to go close if repeating the effort from a nice draw.
