Soft ground and a quick pace should be perfect for the Ed Walker-trained Maygold, who has improved leaps and bounds this season and put up a career-best effort to win by two and a quarter-lengths at Haydock last time out. She cruised in behind the speed that day before switching left and producing an impressive turn of foot on testing ground and is now rated 97. She has plenty to find on ratings with the likes of Dakota Gold (110), but she gets 8lb from that rival and has had a much easier campaign as she was forced to miss much of the summer due to quick ground.

White Moonlight (2.50 Newmarket)

This home-bred daughter of Medaglia d'Oro has a really promising future ahead of her based on her taking debut victory at Kempton in September. She did plenty wrong that day, including missing the break, but hit the line well over seven furlongs and although the form doesn't stack up to much, it was the way she did it that took the eye. Her pedigree (out of a Dubawi mare) suggests distances in excess of a mile will be her stamping ground in the future, so she is sure to improve for the step up in trip, and should go close to defying a penalty here.
