The Punt Daily: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips on Saturday afternoon

GOOD THING

Glenduff(12.55 Newcastle)

I'm sticking by the fact that I think Faustinovick (beaten into third at Newbury yesterday) is a good horse and his conqueror two starts ago was Glenduff, who sprinted fairly clear of the Colin Tizzard-trained hurdler at Carlisle. He was super impressive that day in the way he travelled through the race and although he has been found another tough novice hurdle by trainer Nicky Richards, connections clearly believe he is up to the task. The key to that could be the extra two furlongs he encounters for the first time.

EACH-WAY PLAY

(3.00 Newbury)

I'm going to back both De Rasher Counter and Elegant Escape in the feature Ladbrokes Trophy, but for the purposes of simplicity I'll stick with just the one selection in The Punt. Elegant Escape has to carry topweight, which is obviously not an easy task in this race as it requires the horse to be a near Grade 1 performer to prevail. Although placed in two Grade 1s in his career so far, it's fair to say Elegant Escape is just below that level, but he is a dour stayer who will relish every bit of this 3m2½f trip. He lugged 11st 10lb to finish second in this race 12 months ago (beaten by a well handicapped stablemate) and although the same thing could happen again, it is pretty hard to envisage him finishing outside of the first four.
