The Punt Daily: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips on Saturday afternoon
EACH-WAY PLAY
Springtown Lake (2.25 Cheltenham)
Relatively unexposed seven-year-old who showed a good level of ability over hurdles two seasons ago. Hasn't quite made the impact over fences that some may have predicted, probably because he takes half the fences with him, but he undoubtedly runs his best races on soft ground and finished a good fifth of 20 in the Close Brothers at this track last year. He made a nice reappearance in a competitive race at Sandown 14 days ago (travelled well but weakened late) and should be ready to go for this.
DARK HORSE
The old man of the party at 11, Anteros has returned to form with a bang, notching victories at Bangor, Warwick and Hereford since August, and just sneaks into the bottom of the handicap for this race, which is his Champion Hurdle. Winner of this in 2016 and runner-up in 2017, Anteros came down early when quietly fancied to go close 12 months ago and can hopefully make amends in conditions that will suit him down to the ground. Connor Brace's 3lb claim is a help and he has a good chance of sneaking into the frame.
