Kalashnikov(1.50 Newbury)

A super talent who should have come on bundles for his runner-up effort on seasonal reappearance and can go one better for trainer Amy Murphy. Kalashnikov has never finished outside the first two when completing (one time he didn't complete he unseated in the Arkle when going well) and is unbeaten in one start at Newbury. He ran a nice race when favourite at Aintree last month but the dolled off fences in the straight made it a speed test and that always favoured Forest Bihan. Conditions look right for him this time around and 3-1 looks a value price about a horse who looks the best in the field by a margin.

Faustinovick(1.20 Newbury)

Colin Tizzard's five-year-old has three seconds to his name, but I believe he has a big future (probably over fences) and it's just a matter of time before he breaks his duck. He showed significant promise on rules debut at this track in March, finishing six lengths behind the talented McFabulous, and was perhaps a bit unlucky on his return at Carlisle when bungling the last two flights of hurdles. Tizzard's runners have all improved for a start this year and providing his jumping his better, I hope he can make his mark.
