The Punt Daily: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips for Monday's French action

BANKER

Chorba (11.25 Longchamp)

Al Shaqab-owned daughter of crack miler Olympic Glory, Chorba evidently showed plenty at home before she made her debut over 1m1½f at Deauville in December as she was sent off a warm 6-5 favourite. She broke smartly from the inside gate and, despite racing keenly throughout, she picked up in the style of a top-class prospect. A five-month layoff will have helped her progress physically and she can take the step up in grade. The drop to a mile will help, too.

EACH-WAY PLAY

Alzire (1.35 Longchamp)

Both Wasmya and Alzire catch the eye in this Listed event despite having to give weight away to their rivals, and the latter looks the best bet at the prices. Trained by Jean-Claude Rouget, Alzire has won two of her four outings, both of which came when fresh, so the fact she hasn't been seen on the track for 236 days isn't a negative. Her latest victory came at this level and Coralie Pacault is a good rider to have on board. I'd be disappointed if Alzire didn't make the frame.

EYECATCHER

Duhail(9.55 Longchamp)

Stepping up to Grade 3 company is an unknown for Duhail, but this exciting son of Lope De Vega looked useful in three starts last campaign and, granted natural progress from three to four, he should be able to feature under Vincent Cheminaud. His first two successes (one here) came over 7f and he stayed on powerfully over 6f last time, which suggests the drop to the minimum trip isn't ideal. However, if he can lie up in the early stages nothing will be finishing faster and he could prove tough to hold.
