Roger Fell looks to have done a shrewd bit of business in buying this ex-Mick Halford-trained four-year-old for £65,000 at the Horses-In-Training sale in November last year. Cockalorum, who won once in four starts in Ireland, took a couple of runs to come to hand for Fell but looks in sparkling condition now and backed up a fine victory over this course and distance on his penultimate run with a creditable runner-up effort at Ayr. The soft ground might not have helped his cause on that occasion, but he was only beaten a neck by a course specialist and is able to compete off the same mark here. The return to this track should see him return to winning ways.
