Nikki Evans' nine-year-old thrives over this course and distance, winning three times and placing once from seven attempts, and he's back to stake his claim once again off a mark of 104, 6lb lower than when successful here in March 2017. He wins few and far between but always runs his best races at this track and returned to form with a fast-finishing second here last time. He wasn't in the picture for much of the straight that day but seemingly grew wings when he saw the grandstand and was only denied by three-quarters of a length by a subsequent scorer. He's up 2lb today but Richard Patrick, who has won on him twice, retains the ride and he should relish the bog-like conditions.
