The Punt Daily: three to follow at Goodwood and Galway

David Simcock: trainer will have been pleased with Calling Out
David Simcock: trainer of Good Omen

EYECATCHER

Poet's Prince(4.10 Goodwood)

With rain falling by the second, it looks wise to follow horses proven in soft conditions and they aren't easy to find in this two-year-old nursery. A lot depends on whether July festival scorer Tangled handles the going – if he does he'll go close – but Poet's Prince proved he can handle wet ground when second on debut behind subsequent Listed winner Raydiance and has improved enough in two runs since to go close.(Tom Collins)

DARK HORSE

Good Omen(1.50 Goodwood)

David Simcock's three-year-old sluiced home in the mud at Doncaster three starts ago and clearly relished the soft ground. He didn't show much on a considerably faster surface at Royal Ascot next time, but overcame a pace bias to win on good at Yarmouth last time and showed a good attitude. He's tough and will handle the ground better than nearly all his rivals, so he looks well worth a bet. (Paul Kealy)

IRISH ANGLE

Don't Touch It(2.15 Galway)

Brings a touch of class to the table having acquired a rating of 150 over fences. A Grade 1 winner over hurdles and a natural jumper, he can continue his winning ways under Barry Geraghty. (David Jennings)
