This Evan Williams-trained seven-year-old served up one of the notable handicap chase performances of the season at Ascot in December, but his jumping fell apart off 6lb higher at Kempton next time. Williams then elected to switch Annsam back to hurdles in order to regain some confidence and he performed much better, finishing stronger than any of the closers over a trip several furlongs short of his best last time. A 1lb rise should prove no deterrent on Annsam's return to 3m and his hurdles mark is 9lb lower than his chase rating, so he should go close.
