The Punt Daily: Robbie Wilders' free horse racing tips at Galway on Monday
BANKER
Centroid (6.15 Galway)
Galway and Goodwood week tends to be my most prolific of the punting year and Dermot Weld, for so many years the dominant force at Ballybrit, is responsible for two horses I will be backing on the opening day of the festival, with the booking of top 5lb claimer Gavin Ryan on both catching the eye. I was shocked to see Centroid dropped 1lb after a decent fourth at Leopardstown last time and this half-brother to Enable gradually looks to be coming the boil for owner Khalid Abdullah. He has a lovely draw in stall one for the Easyfix Handicap and the step up to 1m4½f will surely be beneficial given the way he stayed on over 1m2f on his last start. Granted a decent trip round he must go close.
EYECATCHER
Lightning Amber (5.15 Galway)
Earlier on the card, Weld and Ryan team up with Lightning Amber, whose performance at Leopardstown last time was admittedly well below par but returning to her beloved Galway may prompt a significant revival. Her two runs at Galway have yielded RPRs of 88 and 86 (6lb higher that at any other tracks). On the first of those starts, she served it up to Derby fourth Broome in a maiden, before finishing second to subsequent Curragh premier handicap winner Njord (now 16lb higher) in the latter. Lightning Amber goes off 80 here and the forecast rain will suit her down to the ground.
