Mick Halford is an outstanding operator at Dundalk and his filly Hieroglyphic makes plenty of appeal in the 7f handicap. The three-year-old’s record in course-and-distance maidens at the track reads 122, and after not cutting much ice on turf in the summer she shaped well on her return to the track when an unlucky in-running fourth after being hampered in October. She returns off the same mark of 72 with high-class rider Ronan Whelan taking over in the saddle and even a reproduction of her previous start may be enough here. First-time cheekpieces also aid her cause.
