The Punt Daily: Mark Boylan's free horse racing tip at Navan on Sunday
EACH-WAY PLAY
Smoking Gun (2.50 Navan)
Gordon Elliott has been responsible for four of the last seven Troytown Handicap Chase winners, also sending out the runner-up on two occasions during that period, and the leading trainer has a strong hand in the feature event again this year. Despite having other shorter-priced runners in the €80,000 event, Smoking Gun looks too big at around 25-1 and rates a decent each-way play under Kevin Sexton, who partnered Elliott's first Troytown winner Balbriggan in 2014. A strong stayer who is effective on decent ground, the eight-year-old shaped more encouragingly than the final result suggests last time at Killarney when sixth. That was his first start for the Cullentra team and he can be expected to step forward from that off a competitive mark of 130, for all he does need to improve.
