The application of blinkers for the first time didn't appear to do the selection any favours on his course debut last month, slowly away from the stalls after flag starts on his previous two outings over hurdles. He races without blinkers this time. There was certainly potential in what this German recruit showed on his debut for Smith three starts ago and a mark of 70 on the Flat could well prove workable.
