BANKER

Nicklaus (1.30 Redcar)

He has failed to justify his very lofty reputation in two starts to date, but William Haggas looks to have found a brilliant opportunity for Markus Jooste's two-year-old. Nicklaus improved on his debut effort when last of six at Newmarket to be fifth in a decent event at Kempton last time and the trainer has had 11 winners from 23 runners at Redcar in the past five years (48 per cent), so he should be able to get off the mark at the third attempt.

EYECATCHER

Declarationofpeace (8.00 Dundalk)

Take Cover and Moviesta are admirable old campaigners but two-year-old Declarationofpeace is Aidan O'Brien's sole representative in this Listed contest and gets all of the allowances. It's easy to forget he was sent off favourite for the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot after thrashing subsequent Group 3 winner Treasuring over this course and distance. Things didn't go to plan that day but he wasn't beaten far in a red-hot renewal of the Middle Park and added another win over course and distance last time, so he should be very hard to beat.

GOOD THING

Relevant (4.55 Redcar)

There aren’t many hotter trainers around than Karl Burke – 23 per cent strike rate in the last fortnight – and it speaks volumes he has booked Katie Walsh here, as the pair most notably teamed up to win a valuable amateurs handicap at Ascot with Georgian Bay in July, meaning they have a 100 per cent record together. Although she has yet to win in four starts, Relevant clearly has plenty of potential, running against talented fillies such as Superioritycomplex and subsequent Group 3 winner God Given, and it would be a surprise if she wasn’t capable of getting off the mark on handicap debut.
