Anticipating (2.55 Ffos Las)

Anticipating took 13 starts to break her maiden, but she looked to appreciate the drop to a mile that day having raced between 1m3f-1m6f on her previous four starts. She's had excuses for her last two defeats, as she failed to stay 1m2f at this course next time before again disappointing on the all-weather (0-9, never placed), and she is still unexposed under these conditions. She is expected to bounce back, with any rain that falls a help.

Penn Avenue (3.27 Ffos Las)

Penn Avenue has looked progressive since stepping up in trip, following a hard-fought win over 1m1f at Lingfield in July with a close second in a 1m4f handicap at Catterick last time. The winner followed up next time, so the form looks solid, and she could have more to come back in trip.

Man Of La Mancha (3.50 Sandown)

Man Of La Mancha has been a beaten favourite on three of his last four starts since winning at Windsor in May, but he's had excuses, most recently having his blindfold removed late at Brighton 23 days ago. The fact he made up lots of ground to finish fourth suggests he could yet prove better than his mark of 80 and this course seems to suit, given he has recorded his best two RPRs here. He was third in June behind Gladius, who is now rated 19lb higher, and then conceded first run to the winner on his next visit in July (the third has won since). If he gets more luck in running, he should be up to winning.
