Riders Onthestorm (2.40 Aintree)

The form of Riders Onthestorm's Old Roan success over Hitman and Ga Law from 3lb out of the weights is working out well with subsequent victories for that pair, and a 2lb rise might not be enough to stop him in arguably a weaker heat. Relishes Aintree with form figures of 121 here away from the National fences, with the runner-up effort coming in this race last season off a 6lb higher mark. A worthy favourite under Brian Hughes.

Greaneteen(2.55 Sandown)

Shishkin shaped like he had a real problem when pulling up in the Champion Chase in March and needs to be taken on at a short price in the Tingle Creek on his return. Greaneteen should be favourite as he saves his best efforts for Sandown and has scored by a combined distance of nearly 21 lengths on his last three outings here (all Grade 1s), while his winning comeback at Exeter in the Haldon Gold Cup off a monster weight suggests he has improved again.

Langer Dan (3.15 Aintree)

Always takes a run to get going and better is expected after his below-par third to Dashel Drasher in a conditions race here on his return. Ready winner of a stronger handicap over this course and distance two starts back off 7lb lower and considered a possible Stayers' Hurdle dark horse later in the campaign. Suited by big-field handicaps, so should go close.
