The Punt Acca: Matt Rennie's free horse racing tips on Wednesday

Diegos Way (2.00 Hereford)

The Cian Michael Collins-trained ten-year-old had progressed through the autumn, culminating with an impressive victory at Bangor over 3m in October, but disappointed when a 32-length third at Hexham last time. However, you can put a line through that as he clearly didn't stay the 4m trip and will appreciate the big drop to 3m1f. His trainer has a fine record in Britain this season too, with two wins from five runners, and a 33 per cent strike-rate with his chase runners there.

Pocket The Packet(2.20 Newcastle)

The return to this course and distance should be hugely beneficial for Pocket The Packet, who has been a prolific winner for George Boughey since switching to all-weather surfaces. He can be forgiven for his latest start when sixth as Southwell and did well to finish as close as he did, given he had a poor outside draw in stall eight, was slow away and held up at the rear of the field (likes to be ridden prominently). He's been dropped 3lb for that and is 2-2 over track and trip, so a bold bid could be expected.

Loup De Maulde (3.30 Hereford)

Loup De Maulde has been a revelation since switching to the care of Robbie Llewellyn, placing on all four occasions and winning twice. The last of those came when an easy eight-and-a-half-length winner at Huntingdon on Boxing Day. He escapes a penalty for that win and Toby Wynne, who claimed 3lb that day, claims 5lb on this occasion. He should be hard to beat.
