The Punt Acca: Mark Boylan's three horse racing tips on Thursday
Thunderbear (1.50 Navan)
Dropping to 5½f with first-time cheekpieces applied could be just what the doctor ordered for Thunderbear, who should have the tools to deliver a bold bid on his nursery debut. His stamina appears to have been stretched over further previously and he can make use of his experience in what looks an open contest.
Jer Batt (2.25 Navan)
Considering it appeared as though those ridden patiently were advantaged, there was clear promise to be taken from the prominent debut effort of Jer Batt at the Curragh earlier this month, and he should not be far away if building on that effort here. Stepping back in trip to 5f shouldn't be any issue given how he shaped on debut, especially when it comes to a stiff finish like Navan.
Butterfly Garden (4.10 Navan)
Having hit the crossbar when second on three of her previous four starts, Butterfly Garden was not winning out of turn last time at Tramore and could go in again off just a 4lb higher mark. Stepping up to 1m4f on that occasion seemed to eke out some improvement, and it's possible she may have more to offer now tried over 1m6f on a sound surface.
