With the introduction of the Saudi Cup, the quality of the third round of the Al Maktoum Challenge has been decimated with the likes of Benbatl, Gronkowski, North America and Capezzano not running. That drop in quality could open the door for Military Law to pick up a first win at the top level. The five-year-old was a 33-1 winner of a Listed race in December, beating a few of his rivals here, and was a very game second to Benbatl next time in round two of the challenge. That form was franked after Benbatl ran a great race against some of the best horses on the planet in the Saudi Cup. Military Law was well clear of the remainder of the field in that race and although Matterhorn has a nice draw, the selection looks at home in Meydan and can scoop the prize.

LONGSHOT

Torosay (1.10 Meydan)

The Nad Al Sheba Turf Sprint is usually a Godolphin benefit and the betting suggests this year will be no different with the highly regarded Space Blues lining up, but at odds-on and without a prep run he's got to be taken on. One who could give him something to think about at a big price is Torosay, who is still unexposed and ran Waady close last time out, with that horse going on to beat Equilateral in a Group 2. He also broke the track record when winning his maiden at Santa Anita in November so it should be well known just how quick Torosay is. He's well worth an each-way punt at the current prices.
