The less you see of Dan Skelton's top horses the better

There was more talk about what didn’t happen on Saturday than what actually happened and I struggled to put it into words when appearing on the RPLive show alongside Dave Orton.

However, I did feel punters at Ascot had a right to feel short changed as the day’s three stars, Constitution Hill, Edwardstoneand L’Homme Presse, were all conspicuous by their absence.

Everyone has to take their fair share of the blame, but Ascot needs to understand that it has a responsibility to its customers and this was like buying a ticket for a Tyson Fury fight only to find out, on the day, that he wouldn’t be turning up and only the undercard would take place.
