BANKER

(5.40 Kempton)

Extremely well-bred four-year-old colt (by Frankel out of a Daylami mare) who has won four times from ten starts and is unbeaten on the all-weather. He quickly developed into a useful sort last season, capping off his season with an easy five-length score at Haydock off a mark of 87. Collide returned this summer with another impressive victory before contesting some of the best middle-distance handicaps off marks in the high 90s. You can put a line through his run last time at Newmarket when not staying the trip or handling the track (worst two runs there) and he has since undergone wind surgery. He is proven when fresh, unbeaten at this track and trainer Hugo Palmer struck with a similar type here two weeks ago when Set Piece scored at Listed level.

GOOD THING

(7.10 Kempton)

You don't often get horses racking up a sequence of victories in Class 6 handicaps but that is the case for Purple Paddy, who has won impressively on his last two outings and looks set to rack up the hat-trick off just 7lb higher. Jimmy Fox's gelding, who boasts form figures of 13211 over this course and distance, drew clear with an unexposed improver last time out and showed great determination to fend off that rival under Mark Crehan, who retains the ride. He showed a nice turn of foot from the rear that day and similar tactics will likely be employed from a wide draw tonight.
