John Gosden's three-year-old son of Dubawi hinted at ability in three turf novice events to start his career before undergoing a gelding operation that has clearly helped keep his mind on the job. He has recorded form figures of 211 since and looks a serious improver, especially on the all-weather. It still startles me that he managed to win last time out at Chelmsford after completely blowing the start. He had to be chased along early but soon made up the ground and eventually won eased down by three and a half lengths in the style of a horse well above his mark. The handicapper hit him with an 11lb rise for that but he could well be a black-type performer and I expect him to record the hat-trick.

The only runner in the field not to have won so far, Predictable Tully has threatened to enter the winner's enclosure on all three outings and looked unlucky to be run down by two talented juveniles over 7f last time out. She showed a nice turn of foot from the front that day and traded short in running, but her stamina ebbed away in the final 50 yards and this drop back in trip will suit. She has a lovely draw in stall two to adopt her front-running style and will hopefully fend off the previous winners.
