Televised jollies have plenty to prove in desperate conditions

Edwardstone
2.05 Haydock
SP forecast 11-10

Has looked a potentially decent novice in two hurdles starts, causing minor upset when beating odds-on subsequent Tolworth Hurdle winner Fiddlerontheroof at Wincanton in November, and scoring nicely under a penalty at Aintree last month. Those wins came on good and good-to-soft ground, and although there’s no reason to doubt him on a much deeper surface (best bumper form on soft), the fact he has raced so keenly has to ring alarm bells. Alan King obviously thinks so as he tries a first-time hood (just 4-38 when trying that option first time out since 2012).

Conclusion Much depends on whether he settles, but wasting energy in bad ground is never a great idea, so I’ll oppose.
