Chase runners at Ascot saddled by Venetia Williams are always worth a close look and The Clock Leary has a tremendous chance if last season's largely forgettable efforts can be forgiven.
Two years ago at Ascot he bolted up by 11 lengths from the smart Cocktails At Dawn in a novice handicap over a trip a little shorter than today’s, leading before halfway and running them ragged. As a consequence his mark jumped from 118 to 130, and that’s the figure he started from last season, so it’s no great surprise that he struggled.
