Sweetspots: Real Steel out to show his mettle with step up in trip

Credit: Alan Crowhurst

Chesterfield is now on a 3lb lower mark than when winning the 2017 Scottish Champion Hurdle. He warmed up for Cheltenham’s 2.10 with a good win in a jumpers’ bumper and should go well.

It’s interesting that Willie Mullins has decided to step up Real Steel significantly in trip in the 2.50 at Cheltenham. He races over six furlongs further than he’s run over before.

Nina Carberry operates at an impressive 33 per cent strike-rate at Cheltenham and that improves to 50 per cent when riding for Enda Bolger. The pair combine in the Foxhunter at 4.10 with On The Fringe, who won the race in 2015 and 2016.
