Sweetspots: layers will be lucky if they succeed in defying Gravity

William Haggas has a 26 per cent strike-rate at Chester and has engaged course specialist Franny Norton for the ride on Fastnet Tempest (3.05). Drawn low, which is ideal, the gelding can continue his progress.

John Gosden has a 27 per cent strike-rate with horses running in a handicap for the first time. Hyde Park bolted up to win his maiden on his final start of last year and looks sure to go well in the 3.10 at Goodwood.

Pat Cosgrave, who has a 22 per cent strike-rate at Haydock, looks to have a strong book of rides and Gravity Flow for William Haggas takes the eye in the 4.35. This filly was narrowly denied stepped up to Listed company last time out and looks set to make amends.

Clever Cookie has won four times from nine starts at York, including wins in this race in 2014 and 2015. He has won on good to firm at this track, so the ground should hold no fears, and he looks set to run his race in the 2.40.
