Super can live up to his name in Valley showdown
E-Super
Happy Valley 1.45
1pt each-way
There can't be many more aptly named or luckless horses on the Hong Kong beat than Money Boy.
John Size's sprinter has recorded seven seconds since his last win – five of them by half a length or less – and he's been beaten at 5-2 or shorter on eight occasions during the same spell.
None of that will bother his followers ahead of the Kap Shui Mun Handicap at 1.45, especially with Joao Moreira back from suspension, and there's little doubt that Money Boy is good enough to go very close.
But if you fancy Money Boy at 5-2 or shorter again then you have to fear E-Super, who looks the each way value to confirm that he's still very fairly treated from a mark of 78.
E-Super bolted up at the Valley on his reappearance and has remained in fine form, flashing past the post upsides Money Boy when the pair finished placed here and finishing only just behind him when they were second and fifth in a blanket finish here recently.
Money Boy fans will argue that he would have won that day had he not been forced to switch at a crucial stage, but E-Super would also have finished closer had he not been forced to work hard from a high draw and smoother sailing this time will make him good value at 6-1 or longer.
The rest of the card includes some very trappy handicaps even by HK standards but let's hope the following suggestions include something worthwhile.
Whistle Up showed improvement here on his latest start and can go well from the same mark in the 11.45, while the unexposed Dr Proactive is on the up with the valuable assistance of Zac Purton in the 12.45.
Planet Star is from a stable in fine form and will be well served by a likely strong pace in the 1.15, while former David Simcock galloper Bank On Red has been raised 5lb for a recent course and distance win but travelled like a horse who should be very competitive again in the 2.15.
