Stayer looks a big player if straight enough for return

1pt win at 4-1Champers On Ice was one of few horses well supported against Sire Du Berlais in last year's Pertemps Final at Cheltenham and he went off at just 10-1 having been twice those odds a couple of days earlier.

A couple of early mistakes knocked him out of his stride, though, and he was never really competitive. However, he had shown plenty when an eyecatching fourth in the Haydock qualifier before that and it's evident that he still has plenty of ability.

He has been dropped to a mark of 132 now, which is a stone below his peak, and he can definitely be a player if straight enough on his return.
