Stars is outshone close home by Elraazy

Elraazy and Queen Of The Stars both travelled well in the 1m4f maiden at Haydock and pulled clear in the closing stages, but it was the favourite who just found more. Nearly £3,000 was traded at 1.14 in running on Betfair on second-placed Queen Of The Stars. Winning trainer John Gosden improved to 7-13 in three-year-old-plus maidens at the track in the last five seasons.

The long odds-on Contentment was done at a ridiculously low 1.25 in running in the 7f maiden at Salisbury. He could never get on terms with Poets Vanity (22), who made most and easily pulled away in the final furlong.

Skylander eventually responded to prolonged pressure in the 3m3f handicap hurdle at Sedgefield, but it was hard work and he needed another stride or two after trading at 1.16.
