St Leger festival Placepot picks: Graeme Rodway gives his Doncaster selections

There should be a big pool for the Placepot on St Leger day at Doncaster and it won’t be easy to get through the opening mile nursery (1.15) because there are only two places available. Fall Of Rome is the solid one in first-time cheekpieces, but Magic Warrior could also go well.

It doesn’t get much easier in the second leg because there is a huge field lining up for the Portland (1.45). Mondammej is in good form and makes the most appeal.

The winner will be needed in the Champagne Stakes (2.20) and surely that will be either Reach For The Moon or Lusail. It’s hard to choose between the pair, so both can be included.

The Cazoo Park Stakes (3.00) is a trappy race. Jim Crowley rarely gets it wrong and has chosen Laneqash over Danyah. Trust his judgement and put Laneqash and D’bai in the perm.

Hurricane Lane sets a high standard in the Cazoo St Leger (3.35), but I also like Sir Lucan for a place. Save the banker for the last leg because Title should win that 1m4f handicap (4.05).
