There are many ways to celebrate becoming champion trainer but Dennis Yip set the bar at a giddy level when he took the Hong Kong crown in 2013.

Inviting 600 pals for a slap-up party in the cavernous Sha Tin paddock was a bold enough opening gambit. A horse-drawn carriage arrival as Queen’s ‘We Are The Champions’ boomed around the racecourse added to the ambience. And the release of a limited edition range of DY designer jeans provided a brilliantly barmy cherry to top the celebration cake.

Reports suggest Australian Sales take precedence this Wednesday, but the Yipster will certainly be at Happy Valley in spirit.
