Singapore tipping: three fancies for the action at Kranji on Friday
My Dreamliner
2.20 Kranji
1pt each-way
Sacred Gift
2.50 Kranji
1pt win
Mighty General
3.20 Kranji
1pt win
Talented four-year-old Sacred Gift is primed to land his fourth career win at Kranji on Friday when he contests the eighth race (2.50), a $70,000 Class 3 over 5½f (1100m) on the Polytrack.
Sacred Gift boasts an impressive record of three wins and one placing from four local starts. Following a luckless third two starts ago, the son of Zoustar made amends easily last time out when stalking the speed and sprinting sharply in the straight to score by a length and a quarter over 5f.
Sacred Gift stands out as a highly progressive type with ratings points up his sleeve, and despite rising to Class 3 for the first time this week his untapped potential stands him in good stead to continue winning ways.
Watch Out Boss is ultra consistent and is racing in great form. He can prove the main danger to Sacred Gift, who is one of the strongest bets on the card.
Half an hour earlier, dynamite sprinter My Dreamliner can continue in his winning ways when he lines up in the $100,000 Class 1 sprint over 6f (1200m).
The four-year-old gelding quickly racked up six wins from only nine racetrack appearances and has established himself as a future top-liner in Singapore for years to come.
This week, he moves up in trip to 6f for the second time in his career. On his previous attempt a year ago, he was bumped at the start.
Here he gets a great chance to win over the distance for the first time. He has plenty of form over 5½f, so there is no reason to think he will not be effective at this distance.
He is the most progressive runner in this field and gets to carry 8st 12lb, which means he gets a stone from the veteran topweight War Affair. My Dreamliner has been fairly well drawn in stall five and looks the one to beat. On his immediate inside is front-runner Nowyousee, who can prove difficult to catch and was a course-and-distance Group 3 winner on New Year's Day.
There is notable British interest in the final race (3.20), a Class 4 over 6f (1200m), as Mighty General, who raced for Andrew Balding under the name Hero Hero, makes his local debut for Lee Freedman.
As Hero Hero, he ran six times, recording his best form when winning a novice race at Chester by eight lengths. He then went on to finish tenth in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot and ran respectably in a couple of further Class 2 handicaps off BHA marks in the 90s.
Mighty General has always left the impression that he has ample speed. He led his group in the Britannia before tiring and showed fairly useful form on the Polytrack over 6f at Chelmsford earlier in his three-year-old season.
He has a fair draw in stall five for his Singapore debut and could be a little better than Class 4 company. He also could not be in better hands for racing in Hong Kong. Freedman has had four winners at the last two meetings here, operates at a 15 per cent strike-rate and has surged to third in the trainers' rankings.
