Silvestre de Sousa can team up with Easy Go Easy Win for second Sha Tin strike

Follow Me
7.05 Sha Tin
1pt win

Sydney jockey Tye Angland makes a cameo appearance at Sha Tin after an absence of two years from Hong Kong tracks, and I see his best chance as the John Size-trained Follow Me (7.05) in the 7f Class 4 handicap.

Follow Me, an Australian-bred son of Lope De Vega, has shown conspicuous promise in his three starts to date, and drawn attractively in stall five he can notch his maiden win, albeit at cramped odds.

Angland, a former regular in Hong Kong, has an 11 per cent strike-rate on horses trained by Size.

King Opie
8.40 Sha Tin
1pt win

South African Grant Van Niekerk needs another winner on the eve of Hong Kong’s showcase races, and it may come in the shape of ever-reliable King Opie (8.40), who can register his third win of the season by taking the 6f Class 3 handicap.

This gelding can cope with a significant 7lb rise in the handicap for his most recent win.

Easy Go Easy Win
9.50 Sha Tin
2pts win

This is the time of the Hong Kong season to be following trainer John Moore, the multiple champion who annually maps out a campaign to target the highest-profile races.

Moore has several good chances on the ten-race card at Sha Tin, but the best value can be snapped up by saving a little for the finale, in which his talented import Easy Go Easy Win (9.50) can make a return to the winner’s enclosure, with Silvestre de Sousa aboard.

Privately purchased in Sydney, where he recorded three placed efforts on metropolitan tracks without winning, Easy Go Easy Win hit the target first time out in Hong Kong, landing a 6f Class 3 race off a mark 21lb below his current rating.

That was 11 months ago. Several placed efforts subsequently saw him creep up the handicap, but now fully acclimatised he is well up to winning this 7f Class 2 handicap.

His last run was a cracker – he came home seventh over the course and distance, beaten just over two lengths, after twice being held up in transit. When clear on the outside, he finished full of running. This is an ideal opportunity to notch his second win.
