Ivan Furtado is very much prominent on the Hot Trainers list, and he has just one runner today in Huddersfilly Town, who runs in the 8.00 at Chelmsford. She was a cosy winner over course and distance three weeks ago and can defy her 6lb rise here.

This is a very good time of year for Ben Pauling, who has a 25 per cent strike-rate with his runners two weeks either side of today’s date for the past five seasons. He sends one horse to Leicester – Alpine Secret in the 1.45.
