Quids In
Oliver Greenall
3rd, Haydock, December 6
To finish in close proximity to two battle-hardened nine-year-olds was a good effort from this four-year-old in this 2m3f handicap hurdle. The winner One For Harry was scoring for the seventh time on good to soft or slower but Quids In coped well with heavy going, which was how the ground was described when he achieved his only win over hurdles at Uttoxeter in February. This was just his ninth race over hurdles and there is room for improvement.

Daklondike
David Pipe
Won, Wincanton, December 7
The five-year-old is a staying chaser to follow this winter. He has his quirks, but Tom Scudamore did a good job of keeping his mind on the job, showing improved form in cheekpieces. He possesses lots of ability and seems to thrive in testing ground, which bodes well for the coming months. This performance, his second chase win in four outings, improved his form figures on soft or slower going to 16141.

Imjoeking
Lucinda Russell
5th, Aintree, December 9
This soon-to-be 11-year-old won two handicap chases last season and, based on this effort, is on a competitive mark. Those wins were achieved at around two miles and he travelled well for a long way in this valuable 2m5f chase run in testing conditions, but lacked the staying power to sustain his challenge. He seems to act on any going and could take all the beating in a weaker race over a shorter distance.
