Sandown Placepot picks: Paul Kealy provides his perm for the ITV4 card
Only five go in Sandown's opener (1.15), but early favourite Nelson Gay could be one to take on in the Placepot.
He's on a hat-trick and won with plenty in hand last time, but now switches back to turf off a 7lb higher mark against horses of a completely different calibre to those he beat at Wolverhampton.
Nomadic Empire and First Edition are the class acts on turf form and I'd put those two in against the jolly.
Dingle is quite a strong fancy in the next (1.50), but it's obviously an open heat. I'm keen to take on the front two in the market though, and Charlie Appleby's Quintillus can do better after still running green in a decent conditions race at Chelmsford on his return.
Hukum is my pick in the next (2.25), but with only seven runners we could do with one more and Waldkonig, whose Pontefract win was franked when third-placed Victory Chime won the City & Suburban at Epsom on Tuesday, goes in too.
Palace Pier is the obvious one in the bet365 Mile (3.00) and he should be hard to beat, but Khuzaam looked potentially top class at Lingfield and is race-fit, so I'm loath to bank on the jolly even if the second favourite needs to prove it on turf.
Trawlerman and Lone Eagle are the two for the Classic Trial (3.35), which leaves just the six-runner novice (4.10).
I really don't want to bank on an unraced filly, but the form of Nash Nasha's win is nothing special at all and Chiasma is a sister to Frankel. I'll stick her in with Royal Harmony, who has an Oaks entry.
