Sandown hill comes to rescue of Sacred Act

Sacred Act looked like finishing out of the frame for most of the mile handicap at Sandown and £5 was traded on him at 1,000 on Betfair, but he grabbed the gound up the hill and flew in the final furlong to nail Shawaahid, who was backed down to 1.1.

George Baker almost pulled off a great front-running ride on Quest For More in the Doncaster Cup. They were backed down to 1.16, but Sheikhzayedroad nailed them on the line after looking like he didn’t really want to know.

There was a bit of a turn-up in the Group 3 Sceptre Stakes at Doncaster, as the scopey Spangled stayed on to claim the spoils after trading at 50. Runner-up Mise En Rose was done at 1.33, but the shocker was 4-6 favourite Nemoralia, who trailed in a long last after being matched at 1.52.
